Canceled everyones autopay in December. Have had payments automatically deducted for at least 4-5 years. Didn't notice nothing was coming out of my checking account. Son came home and was looking for a scholarship application. I saw a pink bill and it said disconnect on 5 April. Since today was the 13th I figured it was a mistake. Went online to make sure today, and couldn't get in. Called, and after holding for an hour was advised that my lights were in fact cut off today. I would need to pay the bill and get charged a 20 reconnect fee. Called my son, he said the lights are not off. I paid the balance and called. After holding another hour, to tell them to remove the reconnect fee because it was never disconnected. They said it didn't matter, as long as a disconnect order has been sent, they will charge the charge, and will not waive it.

“ sorry customer service, they will not answer the phone ”
“ Consumer beware!!! This is a horrible company. Cares nothing about the customer. Please stay clear of this company. Even the website is horrible to navigate and be careful on the amount your paying. Be sure to double check everything before you hit that payment button. If I had only read the reviews before getting suckered in to the contract by a salesman. Completely worthless customer service! AND I have yet to receive a bill. But my electricity has been disconnected. The worst most ridiculous company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. ”

Star Tx Power has been marketing Garland TX. 80 % of our city is served by Garland Power and Light - a muni through the TMPA. This is a result of a senate bill of some years back. ST is leaving personal information on the door for all to see. I have received complaints from our neighborhood. I called ST and after several numbers and a disappointing rejection ,I did what the ST customer service manager angrily told me- ' Contact your city leaders" .I did as well as let citizen on patrol know to look for strangers .I let our neighborhood officer know also. I called ST and finessed my way to a real person in ILL. He gave me the number of a woman in TX as he understood. She has not called back all day. Customer service told me they did not go door to door. I confronted him with the fact that we have the flyers.I am heartsick that an elderly person or an ESL person could be an easy target and create a contract that they cannot use.
ST - pls fix this! We cannot sign up with you in this area. ”
“ Plan ran out, rate jumped really high after 12 mo variable rate, no email,no bill, no withdrawal that month even though I have automatic withdrawal, next month the two month bill was $ 1450.00 instead of $700.00 The service representative said if you sign up for a 36 month plan we can bring your last bill down to the 9.6c (plus) rate... not the $1450 of course, but only $ 670.00 of it because that is "last months bill" .And then having to sign up for a rate that is 10-25% over the best rate out there, for 36 mo. Is anyone watching these people, this is crime. They stole $750 from me. I will fund the lawsuit. ”
