Reviews from Prospect:

Good thus far for us! Think competitors may be writing bad reports.

(4.2 / 5)

We switched from TXU and we saved, the lowest bills ever received with TXU. I read all these reviews and it made me Leary of Cirro. Then I read a lot of the other companies and saw terrible reviews of them too, so I felt better. I gathered the competitors write the bad reports on each other. Genuine reports need to get to prospective buyers. I hope this is not true that they write on each other! But sure seems like a common thread of complaints. I do, however, believe Customer service is lacking and "I don 't care attitude"! Hopefully will change that.

Late Payment for Nov. 2017

(2 / 5)

  Hello,
I am the current customer but very disappointed with how your company handle the paymentS, especially for Nov. 2017. I received a Disconnect Notice due to late payment for Nov.2017. Well, my bank account indicated that payment of $70.09 was withdrawn by Startex Power on 12Dec2017. I called Starxtex Customer service to explain today 12/22 and was told that still the amount has not been received. Startex requested me to send in the proof of payment and I did. I am very upset and definitely dont want to waist my time to help resolve your internal issues. Please do something to improve your service next time.

Reaching Someone Live

(1.6 / 5)

  Hello,

We tried to confirm our online order request by calling this morning. Specifically we wanted to know how quickly we could get service activated. After 19 minutes of listening to your on-hold music I hung up. Poor customer service if you don't have enough people to answer phone calls from new prospective customers.

CAVEAT EMPTOR

Purchase from Startex ever again? _ _ _ _ No.
I ordered a variable rate plan that started at a wonderful rate- about $0.072 per kw. They do mention that they can raise the price at their own discretion at any time. What they never mention in the terms is that yes, they are about to raise your rate after only one month of the promotional rate and yes, you will be shocked at how cavalier they are about dinging you once you have been roped in.
The idea that anyone would agree to have their rates raised by 64% after only one month (from 7.2 cents to 11.8) is so ludicrous that it won't enter into your thinking as a reasonable prospect, unless someone tells you in plain language that it will happen and that this is apparently routine business to Startex- hence my review here. Don't take a promotional rate unless you have done an exhaustive study of how your account will be handled after the first short period of service. They leave all mention of that out except by inference in "legalese".

DONTTRUST Energy Company

(1 / 5)

This sales person whom I reluctantly opened the door and let into my home is giving me trust issues with anyone who comes knocking on my door in the future. If they don't have my phone number they won't get in. She went through the steps about how I can save and pay the same amount each month
She put me on the phone to sign up with a customer service guy. He ran a credit check that required me to make a deposit. Before I could complete the phone call the woman reached over and hung up the phone without my consent. When I told her I don't have that deposit amount she tried to talk me into putting my deceased husband's name on the account. I thought she was crazy or trained well. I told her I would never stoop to that lever and goes against everything I believe In... She didn't stop there she tried to get me to ask my son to get on the account and when the company calls and ask if he's the spouse, he is to say yes.
I knew then I had a problem with this company. It wouldn't have went well if she had said that to my son . HOW DISHONEST IS THAT ? Then she had the nerves to ask if she could take my light bill to show other prospective customers my rates . I Refused of course .She ended up sneaking off with some of my information on a paper she was writing on. BEWARE who come knocking on your door because if they are the best in the business they don't have to come knocking on your door and stoop to those types of low down tactics.

Deceptive Company Practices

(0.6 / 5)

I recently moved from Florida to Texas and I have been shopping around for an electric company. I read over the reviews for most of the companies listed to provide energy to the Bell County area and since I have spent quite a bit of time on this I just wanted to warn people of this company. In several of the reviews the company's response is a generic cut and pasted paragraph, e.g. it is not personalized. Also they have frequently sighted that customers go to www.championenergyservices.com/monthtomonth in an effort to say "see we posted our month to month rates and you just didn't look at them", but in reality I thoroughly searched the website and never found a link to this page. It seems to be hidden or only accessible from their responses found here. Additionally there are no links from their residential services page to show prospective customers what their price hikes would be comparable to after their contract ends. I find these tactics to be unethical as they ultimately manipulate prospective customers. I hope this helps someone out there stay away from another bad company. I finally signed with StarTex Power. Their responses to customer's complaints were the best and their website, although in need of updating, was not deceptive. Hopefully it is a good choice. I will review them under the headline "Girl from FL" after a year of service.
